#mathfail & #mathwallofshame

It all began with this tweet on August 3, 2016 from Sara VanDerWerf:

Math Wall of Shame - Sara VanDerWerf

That’s all it took and I was hooked. I HAD to create a ‘Math Wall of Shame’ display for my classroom this year. Sara explained how it was the best display she has ever created and provided forty photos to be used right away to get this endeavour under way. (If you find any math errors, share them on Twitter and use #mathwallofshame and Sara compiles them for us!)

I researched more using the #mathfail and #mathwallofshame hashtags and found a plethora of images that can be used for this display. Then I found this tweet from Laura Wagenman:

Laura Wagenman - 13 math fails

These ladies have been so helpful and encouraging. I made a mini-version of a #mathfail wall. I chose a spot in the hallway so students, staff and community members can see it as they walk by. It is not fancy and is in a small space but I hope that it engages people and gets them talking math. Will post a couple of pictures a week and then hopefully students will submit photos as well 🙂
